The University of Hawai`i at Manoa's John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) is recruiting for an associate or full professor with the potential to serve as the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, dependent upon the Dean's approval. This faculty position is a full-time, tenure-track position (position #84058). We are looking for an innovative and dynamic leader with exceptional administrative and organizational skills and a commitment to academic medicine including medical education, clinical care, and research.
The Chair of the Department of Pediatrics for the John A. Burns School of Medicine is charged with the growth and development of clinical, research, and teaching excellence of the department. The Chair of Pediatrics is responsible for overall management of the department, which include direct oversight of the financial and human resources of the department, as well as ensuring that cutting edge research is conducted and that the highest quality of clinical service is delivered. The Chair is also expected to create the vision and to be an advocate for the health care needs of children while developing community relationships that optimize the delivery of pediatric services.
The Department of Pediatrics is currently comprised of approximately 76 faculty in the following specialties: adolescent medicine, allergy and immunology, cardiology, community pediatrics, child protection, child psychiatry, critical care, developmental pediatrics, emergency medicine, gastroenterology, genetics, hematology/oncology, hospitalist service, infectious diseases, medical education, neonatology, nephrology, rheumatology, sports medicine, and pediatric surgery. JABSOM is the only LCME-accredited medical school in the State of Hawai`i. It's new Kaka`ako campus is located in Honolulu, Oahu. Clinical services are delivered mostly at Kapi`olani Medical Center for Woman and Children (KMCWC) but also at Queens Medical Center and a series of community clinics and health centers. Kapi`olani Medical Center for Women and Children is the only academic health center providing care to the children of Hawai`i. Approximately 6,200 babies are born at Kapi`olani every year and 940 low birth weight infants are cared for in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. The emergency room sees 62,000 pediatric visits per year and 4,300 children are admitted to the hospital inpatient service. The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. The Division has a very active clinical program at Primary Children's Medical Center, a 270 bed hospital with Level 3C NICU, PICU, and transplantation programs for hematopoietic stem cells and solid organs. The candidate will attend on the inpatient consult service and in the Pediatric Infectious Disease clinic. The candidate will participate in the education and supervision of pediatric residents, Pediatric Infectious Disease fellows and medical students.
The Division has active research programs and collaborations with interests ranging from infectious disease epidemiology, respiratory infections, molecular diagnostics and antimicrobial stewardship. The University of Utah has research strengths in a number of areas, including medical informatics and genomics. The successful candidate will establish a successful research program in collaboration with other members of the Department of Pediatrics.
Candidates must be BC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease, with excellent clinical skills. Additional skills in clinical microbiology, infectious disease diagnostics, and outcomes research are highly desirable.

SPECIALIST IN PULMONARY PEDIATRICS

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis, is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Pulmonologist. The UC Davis Children's Hospital, in Sacramento, provides a full complement of services throughout Northern California. The recruited candidate will join two full-time Pediatric Pulmonologists in providing subspecialty care in an expanding clinical and academic program, including busy NICU and PICU services, a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Accredited Care Center, and outpatient clinics.
This position is open at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (commensurate with credentials) in either the Clinical Pediatrics or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series. Proven excellence in clinical care and teaching is required. Opportunities for research are available depending on the series, experience and qualification of the candidate.
Minimum qualifications include an M.D. degree, BC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology and eligibility for license in the State of California.Applicants should have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within the diverse environment of UC Davis.

Pediatric Critical Care Intensivist

Pediatric Critical Care Intensivist - The Division of Critical Care in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking additional Pediatric Intensivists, including Intensivists with special training in cardiac intensive care. The positions will be at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications. Requirements include board certification or eligibility in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. Successful candidates will have demonstrated interest and abilities in clinical care, education and academic activities.
These new faculty will join an existing group of 17 Intensivists in a 28-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and 16 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) which are located at Primary Children's Medical Center. The division provides separate coverage to the units which are contiguous and staffed by shared nursing personnel. Approximate annual admissions to the PICU number 2,000 and to the CICU, 500. There are active fellowship programs in pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology. The division has a strong record of extramural funding and publication.

Crozer-Keystone Health System is seeking a Chair, Pediatric Medicine. The Chair of Pediatrics will sit at Crozer-Chester Medical Center (Crozer), a 371-bed not-for-profit tertiary-care teaching hospital located on a beautiful 68-acre campus. The medical center admits more than 22,000 patients, treats approximately 53,000 Emergency Department patients, and delivers about 2,000 babies a year. In 2006, Crozer opened the doors to a new 40,000 square-foot Emergency Department, which more than doubled the space devoted to emergency medicine and includes dedicated pediatric suites. Pediatric Services include a 23-bed Inpatient Unit, Delaware County's only Level IIIa Intensive Care Nursery, and the only Level III Emergency Department and Trauma Center in Delaware County.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Chair of Pediatrics is responsible for the clinical, educational, research, administrative and fiscal operations of the department, including allocation of resources and the development and management of clinical programs. In addition the chair will provide strong leadership, expanding the department's clinical and residency programs and promoting quality of care. The chair will develop and oversee all strategic and operational aspects of the department and reviewing and approving departmental operating budgets.
REQUIREMENTS:
An ideal candidate will have an M.D. degree with board certification in Pediatrics and an unrestricted state medical license. Strong leadership and team building skills with the capability to advance and develop a superior clinical service is a must. The ability to build solid collaborative relationships, both internally and externally and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences is very important. Having the capacity to strategically prioritize and allocate organizational resources to effectively balance needs to achieve objectives is key. One must have a strong interest in community medicine and the ability to become a key citizen of the Pediatric community in the region. Commitment to the development of scholarly activities for faculty and residents is needed.
